Nets Up Day

Wind Screens and Nets going up this Saturday, April 7

Hi folks! Despite the cool spring weather, Unionville Tennis Club is preparing for another wonderful outdoor tennis season. As usual we need some help to install the wind screens around the fences. We are planning on doing it this Saturday, April 7th, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The rain date is Sunday, April 8, 10am-12pm. The weather forecast looks good right now but a little cool so dress accordingly. Just show up with your work clothes and positive energy.

This is a great chance for high school students to earn some volunteer hours for their high school requirements. Bring your volunteer hour sheet and we can add your UTC volunteer time.

We will have some coffee, water and a few snacks for everyone. We have had good turnouts in the past and expect we can get things done quickly again this year.

We appreciate your help to get our club up and running for the 2018 season!

OTA U18 Provincial Championship

The Province’s Best Junior Tennis Players Coming to UTC?

The best Under 18 Ontario Boys and Girls tennis players are coming to UTC from July 2nd to July 7th to compete in the Ontario Tennis Association (OTA) Provincial Championship. This event features 72 players of the best junior players aged under 18 made up of 40 boys and 32 girls. These players will have all played in qualifying events and been successful in earning the privilege to play in this championship. The top finishers from this event will go on to play in the National Championship later this year. We hope a few of UTC’s top juniors will be playing in this event as well.

Players like Milos Raonic, Denis Sharpovalov and Gabriela Dabrowski played in this prestigious tournament in the past. This current group of juniors will be trying to continue the recent success of young Canadian tennis junior players that have moved on to success on the international scene.

OTA and UTC are partnering to host this event during the first week of July during the day from Monday to Saturday on our hard courts. We are honoured to be able to host this terrific event to showcase these wonderful young players and our beautiful club to the local tennis community. It is also a wonderful way for UTC to contribute to the tennis scene in Canada and promote our sport.

We encourage you to come out to watch the action on any day that week but particularly on Saturday for the finals. There will be a trophy presentation ceremony and barbecue on Saturday around noon, after the single finals in the morning, where everyone is welcome.

Watch this space in the coming months for more details.

2018 Teams Tryouts Schedule

InterCounty Teams Tryouts

Are you interested in playing in a competitive tennis league? Inter County Tennis Association is your chance!

UTC is a member of the ITCA which is an inter-club league. The club's competitive members play for 14 weeks (from mid-may to August) travelling to surrounding clubs. Click the table on the left to see the tryout dates/times!

Members of a team do not have to be available for all 14 weeks. Team captains, as well as dates and locations for team tryouts are posted on InterCounty Teams.

The adult members of an ICTA team are required to contribute about $30 for the season to cover the cost of home match refreshments and balls. There is no fee to play on a junior team.

If you have any inter county related questions or you are not able to attend the posted tryouts please email Marko Vuckovic, Teams Director.
