Wednesday Evening Mixed Round Robin
Expected to start Wednesday May 1st, 2024 (Weather Permitting)
This is a mixed doubles program for the more competitively minded adult recreational player. Players should be able to consistently serve and return balls and maintain rallies for multiple hits. It is not suitable for beginners, highly ranked competitive players* or players with very limited mobility. Weaker players may be advised to join the Friday RR program if their level of play turns out to be incompatible with the group level, and/or advised to take some lessons before joining either Friday or Wednesday.
Adult members of UTC may register for this program and play in one only of the two sessions every Wednesday evening. Sessions start at 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Members book weekly in advance using Gametime, and choose which session to play in each week. The $20 annual fee covers use of the Gametime system and balls are provided. Just hit Register to join the program. Full instructions will be sent to all Wednesday RR members upon registration. For any questions, please contact roundrobin@unionvilletennisclub.ca. Please note that the Round Robin programs will run on hard and clay courts.
* - Due to having a capped membership, in order to give members as much opportunity to play, we will kindly ask confirmed Inter County team players to not participate in recreational programs. Refunds will be issued for this program.
Friday Morning Mixed Round Robin
Expected to start Friday May 3rd, 2024 (Weather Permitting)
This is a mixed doubles recreational program for adult members. Players should be able to consistently serve and return balls and maintain rallies for multiple hits. It is not suitable for beginners, highly ranked competitive players* or players with very limited mobility. The program runs every Friday morning from 10:00am to 12:00pm and lasting as long as the weather holds. Anyone interested in playing, please send an email each week you want to play, to fridayrr@unionvilletennisclub.ca, starting each Saturday from 8:00am onwards, to book a slot for the following Friday. No earlier please. Emails timed before this time will be de-prioritized. Confirmations are sent out each Tuesday. It is necessary to sign up every week if you wish to play the following week. The flexibility with this program is you choose to play the Fridays that best suit your schedule.
The first players to sign up, up to a maximum of 4 times the number of allocated courts, initially 4 then 5 after the clay courts available for general use, will play each week. The number of courts allocated will be adjusted downwards based on demand. Balanced mixed play will depend on the composition of the players who sign up for that week. If the number of players is lower than 20, then 16 will be confirmed etc etc to maintain full courts of 4 players, and any unconfirmed players will be notified if a spot opens up due to a cancelation. Early sign in each Saturday is recommended. Balls are provided.
There will be 4 segments of 30 minutes each, winners move up a court, losers move down a court and partners split up. Court assignments will be prepared in advance by the Friday RR coordinator who will then direct players to their correct courts for the starting segment.

Men’s Drop-In Sunday Morning
This program runs itself, with no registration required, and operates every Sunday morning from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Interested participants arrive at the club and congregate on the north deck. Players mix in and out as they arrive. No partner? No worries, just drop in. This program starts Sunday May 24th, 2024.
Friday Night Socials: All Adult UTC Members
Please come and join us at the Friday Night Social Round Robins! If you enjoy both tennis and socializing, you will love it. You will receive hours of fun tennis, and a chance to meet many other UTC players. Don't worry if you don't have a partner, just show up and we will pair you up for both doubles and mixed doubles. This event will be run every Friday night from 7-9 pm starting mid May and will take 3 courts. Best of all this event is FREE for UTC members! All you need to bring are your own tennis balls. This program starts, Friday, May 31st, 2024.
Mixed Seniors Game with MTC
This is a program for UTC members who are interested in playing social interclub round robin with Markham Tennis Club (MTC) seniors. There is no charge to participate and no guest fees between clubs. Each club will provide 3 courts for each week, and there will be 6 players per week from each club.
It is intended to be friendly and fun, but players should still be able to serve consistently and rally at least 3 consecutive times. Each club hosts every other week on Monday mornings, at UTC from 10am until 12 noon, and at MTC from 9am to 11am.
If you are interested in this program please email interclubseniors@unionvilletennisclub.ca. This program needs a volunteer organiser in order to operate, if you are interested in the role please also add that to your email. If an organiser can be found, the program usually runs from early June, actual date TBA.
